Mid-South Adds Three With Labutis, Castillo, and Sokolov


Southaven,MS- The Mid-South Monarchs are proud to announce the signing of three players for the 2026-27 season: forward Patrick Labutis, defenseman Matthew Castillo, and goalie Makar Sokolov.

Labutis is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound forward who most recently played for Drury University in ACHA Division III. Last season, the 25-year-old scored six goals and recorded nine assists for a total of 15 points. Patrick joins the Monarchs after serving as Drury University's captain.

Castillo comes in at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds with FPHL experience, having played for the Indiana Sentinels last season. The Ozone Park native appeared in 12 games for Indiana and recorded 10 penalty minutes during that time. Mathew is entering his age-27 season as he joins the Monarchs' blue line.

Sokolov is a 25-year-old, 6-foot-2, 161-pound goalie who has played for the Delaware Thunder, HC Venom, and the Port Huron Prowlers. Makar is a native of Omsk, Russia, and has appeared in 31 games over his time with these franchises.
