MID-SOUTH MONARCHS NAME MAC JANSEN AS FIRST HEAD COACH IN FRANCHISE HISTORY
Southaven, MS – The Mid-South Monarchs are proud to announce the appointment of Mac Jansen as the first Head Coach in franchise history, marking a major milestone as the organization continues to build toward its inaugural season.
Jansen brings a wealth of professional hockey experience, leadership, and championship-caliber character to the Monarchs. A respected veteran of the game, he has built an impressive playing career highlighted by his time with the Binghamton Black Bears and his leadership role as captain of the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. Known for his relentless work ethic, team-first mentality, and ability to inspire those around him, Jansen has earned the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans throughout his career.
As captain in Roanoke, Jansen demonstrated the qualities that define successful leaders both on and off the ice, helping establish a winning culture while serving as a mentor to younger players. His experience competing at a high level and understanding what it takes to build a championship organization made him the ideal choice to lead the Monarchs into their historic first season.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited to be named the first Head Coach of the Mid-South Monarchs,” said Jansen. “Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and I’m grateful to ownership for believing in my vision for this team. Building something from the ground up is a special challenge, and we’re going to work every day to create a culture built on accountability, hard work, and pride. I can’t wait to connect with our fans and begin writing the first chapter of Monarchs hockey.”
Ownership believes Jansen’s leadership qualities and passion for the game will play a critical role in establishing the identity of the franchise.
“From our very first conversations with Mac, it was clear that he embodied everything we wanted the Mid-South Monarchs to represent,” said Monarchs ownership, Andreas Johansson. “His experience as a player, his proven leadership as a captain, and the respect he has earned throughout professional hockey made him the perfect choice to become the first head coach in our organization’s history. Mac understands what it takes to build a winning culture, and we are confident he will help create a team and community that Mid-South hockey fans will be proud to support for years to come.”
The hiring of Jansen represents another significant step forward for the Monarchs as the organization prepares to bring professional hockey back to the Mid-South. With a leader known for his competitive spirit, character, and commitment to excellence behind the bench, the future of Monarchs hockey has never looked brighter.
