Monarchs Acquire 2026 D.O.Y. Carter Shinkaruk

Southaven,MS- The Mid-South Monarchs are proud to announce the acquisition of two-time FPHL Defenseman of the Year and one-time FPHL Forward of the Year Carter Shinkaruk. In return, the Monarchs sent forwards Damon Furuseth and Lucas Piekarczyk to the Stockton Thunder.

Shinkaruk spent the 2025-26 season as the captain of the Athens Rock Lobsters, where he led the team’s defensemen in points with 72. The 34-year-old veteran recorded 25 goals and 47 assists while appearing in all 56 games last season.

Shinkaruk has spent time with several FPHL franchises, including the Danbury Hat Tricks, Elmira Enforcers, Columbus River Dragons, and the aforementioned Athens Rock Lobsters. The newcomer has also spent time in both the SPHL and ECHL throughout his career.

Carter is a huge addition to the Monarchs and brings a wealth of experience, as well as major firepower on the offensive front.
