Monarchs Add High Scoring Veteran Blacksmith
Southaven,MS- The Mid-South Monarchs are proud to announce the signing of 29-year-old forward Chiwetin Blacksmith. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 209 pounds, Blacksmith brings both veteran experience and a sharp shot to the Monarchs as they continue to strengthen their forward corps.
Blacksmith has spent the last couple of seasons with multiple FPHL franchises, most recently the Biloxi Breakers. He scored an impressive nine goals in just 10 games with the team after being traded to Biloxi from Columbus mid-season. Chiwetin began his FPHL career in Watertown, where he spent parts of two seasons with the Wolves. He recorded 26 goals and 27 assists over 51 games in the North Country.
Blacksmith spent his junior career in the OHL with the Barrie Colts and later in the QMJHL with the Gatineau Olympiques. After his junior days concluded, Chiwetin took his talents to Carleton University before eventually heading overseas for a season. Since returning to North America, Blacksmith has been a force to be reckoned with, and he looks to continue that success with the Monarchs.
