Monarchs Bring In 3 Time Champion Tyson Kirkby
Southaven, MS - The Mid-South Monarchs are proud to announce that with their first pick in the FPHL Expansion Draft, the team has selected forward Tyson Kirkby. Kirkby, a 29-year-old native of Prescott, Ontario, joins the Monarchs after five successful seasons with the Binghamton Black Bears.
During his time in Binghamton, Kirkby became the franchise leader in goals (136), assists (176), and points (312). Tyson was named the team's second captain and served as its leader for the past three seasons, helping guide Binghamton to three consecutive Commissioner's Cup championships. In 2024, Tyson was named to the All-FPHL First Team, and last season he recorded 21 goals and 22 assists in 34 games. Kirkby became a fan favorite in Binghamton and will now bring his talents to Mid-South.
Kirkby has also spent time in other professional leagues, including the SPHL with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs last season. He also had a stint in the ECHL two seasons ago with the Reading Royals and Adirondack Thunder.
Kirkby reunites with former teammate and current Head Coach Mac Jansen, who had a front-row view of what Tyson brings to the ice each and every night. Kirkby is the first piece of the Monarchs' puzzle to fall into place and will be a key part of the organization's foundation moving forward.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Kirkby will wear No. 17 for the Mid-South Monarchs.
