Sign and Trade? … Monarchs Add Both Shankar Brothers

Southaven,MS- The Mid-South Monarchs are proud to announce the signing of 29-year-old defenseman Zach Shankar, as well as the acquisition of 27-year-old forward Jacob Shankar from Binghamton. This marks the first time the two Prescott, Ontario, natives will don the same jersey and reunites Zach with childhood teammate Tyson Kirkby.

Zach joins the Monarchs from the Brisbane Lightning, where he enjoyed a fantastic season, recording 34 points in just 14 games. The elder of the two Shankar brothers also had an outstanding junior career, spending four seasons in the OHL with three different teams. He spent the majority of his junior career with the North Bay Battalion, where he was named an assistant captain during his final season.

Jacob joins the Monarchs after helping the Black Bears capture their third straight championship last season. The 6-foot-1 forward enters his second year in the FPHL following a productive rookie campaign in Binghamton. Jacob scored 10 goals and added 13 assists in 40 games while also recording 72 penalty minutes.

The two brothers now reunite as they help pave the way for the exciting opening chapter in the Mid-South Monarchs' story.
